Excess Distribution Function
Excess Distribution Function
The excess distribution function is a close relative of the cumulative distribution function. At any given point, r, in the range of the associated random variable, the value of the excess distribution function is the probability that the variable will take a value that is greater than or equal to r. The excess distribution function can be obtained by subtracting the cumulative distribution function from unity (1).
