What do I do?
I am an independent strategy consultant, which means I help businesses and other organisations make the big one-off decisions that determine their future. Typically, these decisions involve a lot of money, a lot of uncertainty and a long time until that uncertainty is resolved.
A recent example
...involved a pharmaceutical company, where decisions are dominated by two critical uncertainties: 1) will a new drug entering development be approved for sale—most will fail—and 2) if a product is approved, what will it be worth in the market it will face several years from now? I helped the company identify the true value potential in their portfolio and helped them change their clinical trials programmes to:
- increase the chances of a successful approval
- increase the value of each product, should it be approved
- identify faster those products that are destined to fail, and thus cut the cost of failure.
All three improvements, applied systematically acrosss the company’s portfolio, greatly increase R&D productivity.
