An attention-focusing axiom is an axiom that embodies a criterion for focusing attention by ranking the elements of a formal model in order of importance. Attention-focusing axioms are of the form "Given a set of elements of a formal model and an objective function, the following is a ranking of those elements." For example, in decision analysis, deterministic sensitivity analysis (an attention-focusing method) ranks the elements of the deterministic decision basis according to the extent of their deterministic effect on the decision-maker's welfare (an attention-focusing axiom).
